Who is Julia Margaret Cameron? A British photographer, she became known for her portraits of celebrities of her time, photographs with Arthurian (King Arthur). Surprisingly she did not start her career till she was the age of 48, obtaining a camera from her daughter as a birthday present. Her photographic career, lasting 11 years (1864-1867) was appreciated by many modern photographers, taking inspiration from her cropped in portraits. Cameron once wrote "I longed to arrest all the beauty that came before me and at length the longing has been satisfied" Now i have to say i am not really in love with her work, but only because portraits are not my thing i find them a little too plain, even if the characters emotion in the photograph has meaning behind it or not
To my left is a photograph of Ellen Terry(16 yrs), titled "Sadness" By Julia Margaret Cameron. I actually think this is my favorite of her images i have seen, i really like the fading background pattern
